Muttiah Muralitharan and Graeme Swann went head to head in a spin bowling challenge for the advertising firm Rubicon held at Finchley Cricket Stadium, London. The gameplay was to knock off a coin placed on a glass which itself is placed on the off-stump (RHB). But here lies the catch, while knocking off the coin the glass or stumps must not be disturbed even by skin of a teeth.
Gameplay Starts:
Swann opens the bowling, over the wicket...
Ball 1: A straighter delivery, goes past the off-stump at a safe distance.
Murali to bowl over the wicket,
Ball 1: Same line and length from Murali, misses everything.
Swann continues,
Ball 2: Tossed up, dips and turns but misses the target in a very less margin. Swann cant believe how could that miss.
Now Murali,
Ball 2: Oh, blinder from Murali. Probably bowls for the 7th stump it seems. Too wide.
Swann Resumes,
Ball 3: Timber, full length delivery from Swann shutters the middle and off stump.
Murali SPINS,
Ball 3: Ripper of a delivery if there is a batsman present. Tosses it up outside off stump, the ball turns square and goes ouside leg stump.
Swann changes sides and goes around the wicket,
Ball 4: Stumps disturbed again, full delivery on the base of leg stump. Swann seems to be in a different league
Murali follows suit and bowls around the wicket,
Ball 4: Arm ball, goes over middle and leg
Swann switches sides and bowls over the wicket,
Ball 5: Dont know what actually happened, Swann might have bowled a full toss, straight on to wicket keeper's head it looks.
Murali Reigns
Ball 5: There it is, the master had done it. Regular off-spinner from Murali lands well outside off and just kisses the coin, well enough to seal the game.
